In the News

We enjoy sharing all the great things happening at our school. Come back often to get all the important announcements and to learn about our student and staff successes.

Round of Applause for HOSA

In April, 26 students representing QCMS went to Tucson to compete in the state competition for HOSA. Every year we win more chapter awards, place the most kids in the top three, win the most events, and raise the bar for every member and school competing. This time was no exception as we placed first in eight of ten events, won the bronze chapter award, and outstanding chapter award! Congratulations students!

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books came to an end, but we had fun reading twelve new books this year! The "Triple A Batteries" won our school battle and advanced to the district competition. We celebrated with pizza and root beer floats. Great job battlers!

PBIS

The PBIS team attended their final training for this school year. The end-of-the-year training allowed the PBIS team to show what they have created and accomplished, as well as time to create a plan to train next year's staff in using the PBIS model. Part of every training is to complete the team implementation checklist. This checklist keeps the team on track to ensure all important items are being covered and completed. We are happy to announce that we are at 84% complete, which is beyond expected.

As a reminder, PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and we will implement it district-wide. The main idea behind PBIS is to respond to behavior in a positive way and to reinforce positive behaviors. Another key element of the PBIS model is consistency, which gives students set expectations in all classrooms and ensures staff is responding to all behaviors in a consistent manner.
